Reworks

When people ask us how to stop fast fashion and make ethical fashion choices, we typically tell them to stop purchasing new, go charity shopping, and visit our Truro and Falmouth stores!

Okay, but what the hell are reworked clothes, and how can we create them? You may ask. One-of-a-kind upcycled clothing is nothing secret; to put it simply, they are vintage items that we slightly rework or groove up to fit the Enjoy Clothing vibe. There are countless methods to repurpose a used item; over the years, we have developed a fondness for many of them and want to share the greatest ones with you. Look over the list, brainstorm ideas, and learn how we create the one and only Enjoy Clothing Aesthetic.

Our top two favourite techniques are dying and bleaching clothes. We give drab or faded clothing new life by giving it a grungy-edgy twist! The method can also be used in reverse; we enjoy playing with bleaching or reverse tie-dyeing. For instance, we frequently just tie-dye a pair of vintage Levi’s that may have seen better days, instantly giving you a cool and distinctive look! 

We also create modified clothing by embellishing it with hand-painted works of art; there are no guidelines; we just use our imaginations. If you stock your wardrobe with these works of wearable art, you will never become a fashion robot. These rework techniques produce truly unique clothing.

Except when we wish to alter the hemline of a nice shirt or jumper, scissors are not for fun. We never throw anything away, and retailoring is the quickest way to give something like a coat a fresh, creative form and style. To evoke the style of the 2000s, we left the hemlines chopped or unfinished.

You may have noticed our 2 for £5 bin upstairs, filled to the brim with Levi’s and other retro jeans. Although most have a bit of wear and tear, they can always be reworked into some of the coolest bags, belts or even a pair of new jeans! It’s pretty easy to do too, just take apart the seams and sew along new patterns to make any item your heart desires! Plus, it gives you that edgy vintage look, with a unique twist. And who doesn’t love saying that they’ve made the very clothes that you’re wearing? 

Even those super cool Carhartt bags that we had in, were reworks! Simply taken from pre-loved authentic Carhartt jeans, and altered in a way that gives you a gorgeous, finished tote bag, the ultimate everyday accessory!
