From Railroad to rappers…
When Carhartt was founded by Hamilton Carhartt in 1889, the focus was on strong durable apparel for railroad workers who helped shape America. Fast forward over 100 years, and the brand is worn by workers and fashion followers alike.
Using two sewing machines and a half horsepower electric motor in a Detroit loft, Hamilton listened to the railroad workers on what product would fit their needs. Under the motto “Honest value for an honest dollar”, the classic bib overall was created. This set the standard for quality workwear.
During World War II, Carhartt produced: coveralls for soldiers, jungle suits for marines and workwear for factory women on the home front. Fast forward to the late 80’s early 90s and the brand hit the world of fashion with the ‘workwear’ trend. Carhartt Work in Progress introduced a selection of their most iconic classic shapes from their original workwear range which caught the attention of rappers, hip hop artists, and skaters. Carhartt WIP honours its heritage with its core values of quality, durability and comfort while updating their designs keeping them fresh and street.
Now we can’t skip out on such an iconic moment in fashion here at Enjoy, which is why we ensure we are always stocked up with a range of Carhartt workwear pieces to keep our practical and streetwear customers happy.
